Hi David,
My name is Lauryn C., I was a tenant of Village Green in the location of Arbors of Anderson in Cincinnati Ohio from November 2016-June 2017. I just wanted to express by extreme disappointment and frustration in dealing with an infestation of squirrels living in my walls. I did speak with, Allison McDonald, property manager at Arbors of Anderson multiple times. The problem began 3 days after moving in. I heard and animal scratching my walls and moving around, this problem was promptly reported and six days later a rodent expert was sent to catch them. They did catch them and then let them hang in front of my window for three days, which was rather depressing to look at. After multiple catches, the hole ( much larger than a softball), which the squirrels were using to get into the building was never patched so the cat and mouse game of catching and killing would begin all over again. As soon as the latest unwanted rodents where killed, more came to take their place, meanwhile I was reporting the rodents and being told "I have done all I can do" by Allison. This problem persisted until I left in June.
I was told by Allison, that because I broke my lease, to an apartment that was not inhabitable, I would owe two months rent. Allison said that she couldn't, even under the circumstances, give me any discount for the suffering I endured. If you do not think living with squirrels in your walls amount to suffering, please spend the night in apartment 636 for six months and see if it's easy to sleep, watch, T.V., or just relax with squirrels moving, gnawing and scratching your walls. I was embarrassed to have visitors, My mother and sisters were horrified by waking up to the sounds of squirrels that they personally spoke to Allison. My sister, Carolyn, even spoke to Lori Collins,Senior Area Director, who assured her that if "She felt" I deserved compensation she would be sure that I received it. Apparently, reason and feelings are not aligned well with Lori because no compensation was given. I hope that the problem in Apt. 636 was taken care of once and for all and future tenants will not have to climb the ladder of management to get problems solved or to be treated fairly.
I am still paying off the debt of living at Arbors of Anderson, I would appreciate if you could look into this matter with Allison or Lori to see if compensation can be grated since they do not have the authority or initiative to do it. Thank you for reading my e-mail and I look forward to hearing back from you.
Sincerely,
Lauryn C.
