After applying for the graphic design position, I was contacted by a graphic designer there to have an interview for that coming Friday. On Wednesday, I received a phone call from a different employee asking for an interview and had to tell them that I already had one scheduled. I failed to research the place because of time constraints beforehand and I greatly regretted it.
The night before the interview I had car issues so taking multiple hours to come to a solution for that then driving the hour and forty minutes it took to get to the location, I went in for a lovely 2 minute interview. I was supposed to have my interview with the graphic designer who contacted me. I went in and it was very cluttered and not very clean. The receptionist wasn't very attentive and wasn't dressed very professional at all. I told her my appointment and a man stepped out of an office, failed to introduce himself, very weakly shook my hand and told me to have a seat in his office. He asked for my resume, which I gave to him, and he liked that I was "very well educated and what he was looking for". He then handed me a pen to write down my salary requirements. Keep in mind, the job posted STATED the salary would range from $12-14/hr. I wrote down my normal, which was in the upper range of this posting. He said he was sorry but he was looking to only pay $9-10/hr and would keep my resume for future references. I was in a bit of a shock and started to leave, when I turned around and said sorry, but that was not the posted salary for this job and it was not nearly enough to commute that far or relocate. He said he was sorry and the highest he would go was $12/hr. I said no thank you, that he really needs to change the salary on the description and left.
About 5 minutes after leaving I received a phone call from the graphic designer I was supposed to have the interview with, who I will vouch for and say was very nice and polite. He said he heard I was intercepted by the CEO (apparently, that's who I met with) and how did that go? I told him straightforward that I made arrangements because of car troubles to get there, drove a hour and forty minutes for a two minute interview that wasn't even in the salary posted. He apologized and offered to meet with me if I was still in the area. I told him thank you for the offer, but from first impressions and how the CEO acted, I wasn't interested in working for that sort of company.
Side notes: the location is in the middle of nowhere, the place was very dirty and cluttered, the "CEO" had the weakest handshake I've ever encountered and didn't even introduce himself and was very rude and talked over me as I was telling him the posted salary was different. I also had a woman give me a dirty look as I walked out of his office as she overheard our conversation. Needless to say this place is VERY shady and unprofessional and from the other things I've now read about it, I would steer clear and not waste your time.
