Jordan Joos

I brought my wedding dress to Deborah and she gave me an initial quote of $300. I went to her shop approximately 8 times in the span of about 4 months. Sometimes I would get there and it was evident that she hadn't made any progress on my gown. Once I visited and it was tailored down so much the back wouldn't even close. I live about an hour drive away so it became frustrating to continue to drive back and forth, sometimes seemingly for nothing. Keep in mind during all of these visits Deborah NEVER mentioned a change in her initial quote of $300. I didn't ask for anything different during my visits except initially wanting a halter strap and changing my mind to shoulder straps. On my second-to-last visit Deborah sat me down with an invoice and showed me a total of EIGHT HUNDRED DOLLARS. Again, she NEVER mentioned to me in my many visits that the work she was doing was going to cost me almost triple my initial quote. If you are planning a wedding you know that everything is budgeted and I definitely didn't have that cash ready and available days before my wedding. I asked her if I could give her partial payment the next day when I came to get my dress (literally had to get my dress and go to the airport the next day because she still wasn't done). Deborah agreed that I could pay partially and she would bill me for the rest. Deborah kept my dress until the day I had to leave for my destination wedding. That morning while I'm frantically rushing around (side note there was a tropical storm happening at my wedding destination so I really didn't have time for any extra stress) Deborah texts me and says that she refuses to release the dress to me unless I come to get it with $500 CASH. She was sure to specify that she would not take any other form of payment. I had already put down a deposit and this was the agreed-upon remaining balance that I was planning on paying partially that day. So, basically she was holding my gown hostage unless I came with total cash in full. I think that Deborah was extremely ruthless to hold my dress for cash even though we had agreed upon me paying partially at pick up. Not to mention I had just been blindsided by the total amount due a couple of days earlier. I would not recommend her services because she did not communicate any change in price over the months I went to her and she took advantage of me in a very stressful time.
